The left part looks better, and I think it's because of those parts of the right one, in the lower right. if you know what i mean.

How should we do the tank? In all of the references she has a thick white line that serves are the "outline" to it. Should we mimic that?

It looks ugly. And that's because it's supposed to!
The pixel art looks great, REALLY good, but I just don't like this Mother Brain's design...

You're going to have to revamp your old King Hippo though, so he fits in.

Well I figured her face could be closer to Hippo's style and the tank could be treated like a background. I'm going to have to make an Eggplant Wizard now though.

and maybe some faint bottom lights for reflections

Well, first off, thank you all for all the compliments.
Second, I did a small edit to try to get the bottom right, but I'm still not feeling it. Taking another crack in an hour or so.

I also did the glass thingies, although yes, they are mirrored right now. If anyone professes an issue with that, I don't mind making new and different ones.
Also, sorry bout the King Hippo editing, I was actually just screwing with it while bored on the car drive.(I actually didn't know that Sploder said to until after I did it!)

On the light source: Well, yeah, I knew when I started that it should be from above, but I lost that REALLY fast. In general, the light source right now actually comes from the viewer(I know, that summons pillow shading, but w/e). If anyone would like to edit it to try to change the lightsource, go right ahead, I welcome it.

As for the tank, yeah, thick white outline is good.

I think the brain needs to be more dithered to match with the bones, and it could have a little more of the lightsest shade

I think the dithering on the bones helps with the texturing. The only problem I can see with the glass tubes is the one coming from the back. It's shaded more like the "socket" at the bottom of the tank than the other glass tubes. It's really stunning, man. Awesome job.

Thank you again. And yeah, I don't think dithering really applies to the brain, its a much more smooth, slippery surface.

And I took like, 20 whole minutes on that tube alone, and I know it STILL didn't look right.
