A version of Photoshop CS is needed, as it autosplits the alpha channel. Photoshop Elements doesn't have support for channels, and cannot be used.

Oh yeah that exists! Too bad it hasn't been updated. (Has it?)

On another note, has anyone figured out how Kirby's textures work? They are the single most bull**** texturing format I have ever seen.

Yeah, no matter what I do with either program, I still get the black spots. Can someone like, explain step by step what the heck I'm supposed to do to get ACTUAL colors on the textures?

Show us a screenshot, black spots wouldn't make sense unless if you didn't successfully remove the alpha transparency. Both a screenshot from your modelling program, and from your image editor.

Okay so what I do is extract the model and textures from the BCH file with Ohana3DS, convert the unaltered PNGs to TGA using Noesis, then load it into Texture Remix. I put the RGB layers on one output together, then put the alpha on a different output. I specify the output folder, and save the images. The alpha is on it's own image, but the RGB layer still has black spots all over it where the alpha was darkest. However sometimes Texture Remix doesn't even output ANY images. So I try Photoshop CS, import the TGA, go to the channels tab where it shows the R, G, B, and A channels, and remove the Alpha channel. Still black spots. I haven't bothered to try it in 3DSmax at all.

See what I am trying to rip is Taranza, Dark Meta Knight, Shadow Dedede, and Paintra from Triple Deluxe. Mecha Knight, President Haltmann, and Susie from Planet Robobot. They all have this problem no matter what I do.

Also, a certain model from Chibi-Robo Zip Lash has this problem too, the final boss.

The textures all work perfectly fine for me... Sorry that I can't be of further use.

Oh, uh... I didn't realize that Ohana seems to export the PNGs differently. My bad. Sick

The way I was exporting the textures was by using this BCH2PNG program that Kaphotics sent me a while back (you'll need to decompress the files using NTCompress first). Then you should be able to use Noesis with those textures to split them accordingly.

Sorry to be a bother but I still haven't been able to get the textures to come out properly. When I try to put the bch file into ntcompress it gives me a bin file. When I drag that bin file into bch2png (or any file for that matter be it a bch cmp) it freezes windows. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.  Smile

Hrm, that's not supposed to happen. Maybe it doesn't work right if the extension isn't *.BCH?

Either way, I guess I'll work on extracting all the textures for others to use since it seems to be problematic for a lot of users.

Reviving this thread to ask a question: How does Kirby's texturing work? His skin is gray, the eyes are completely black, and other weird things are in his texturing. The UVs aren't messed up, luckily, but I don't understand Kirby's texturing at all.

I'm not sure what's really going on with it, either, but I remember when I imported those textures into BrawlBox, changing the type would reveal certain things kept transparent or something, like his eye texture.
