What are you playing? c'mon, tell me punk!
Quote:but good god do those voices get annoying in Big Bang mode.
I never had that issue, since my PS3 version only had the Japanese voices and they are not as bad as the... well... whatever that is in the localised versions of the game. But yeah, Big Bang is of all modes the one I like the least (next to party mode). Swap is still best next to TetMix (or how it was called).

Quote:I suck at Tetris so the match against Oil Man/Chao/his actual name is going, well, it isn't going well..
Ahh... yes...

That reminds me of my hard time with Ecolo on the PS3 version. He was basically one of the hardest fights in the game, because he keeps on living all the time and he seems to be very quick with cleaning lines

Yeah I breezed through everything else, but he's a right arse to beat. Ah well, sure I'll do it before too long.

Also aren't the Japanese voices available? Assumed that's what the extra voice packs were?

No, at least not that I'm aware of.

The extra voice packs are alternative versions of the characters voices (which, to be honest, are mostly bad and lifeless sounding, compared to the normal ones). I don't know if there is an option to toggle between US and JAP voices (since my PS3 version only have JAP ones).

Personally I don't mind the voices. I was surprised with how well the story dialogue was done, quite a lot of work really. Was kinda expecting it just to be text.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap.

Oh dear lord is this game good. Like the original was a bit 'slippy' and scrolled rather ass-like but man they have gone above and beyond making this game something special.

This is was the game Zelda II could only dream of being.

An already good game, made great and given a graphical update beyond all expectations!*

*Well, if you want to be really arsey - characters now 'flip' - as in the dude's sword will always be in the hand in the background, and not his right hand as in the original. With how brilliant the new graphics are though it's a really trivial complaint.

Finally acquired and started playing Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. Been loving it so far, it's impressive how it still captures the same awesome feel of the other games, despite the majority of the world being models and having the 3D effects on the top screen. The aesthetics are exactly on point.

And while the dream world stuff is cool and all, what I really love about the game is just that it's more M&L. Walking and interacting with the world, fighting enemies with what is still one of the best battle systems I know, the classic humour and story style. And then it just improves on those (rocks that can only be broken on certain sides, using the third dimension in battles, etc). It's more of what I loved about the previous games, and better.
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. -Mary Pickford

Still playing Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap. Pretty sure I'm getting to the end now so trying to get as many secrets (pretty sure the 'Unknown' areas are new, but has been a long time so may be wrong) before facing the final boss.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is being saved for my days off as my judgement of time vanishes with that game and 4 hours will go in 20 minutes...

Picked up WipeOut Omega Collection, was originally planning just to play Zone mode on it, as I love the trance like gameplay but have found myself working through the campaign (2048 is a lot more enjoyable without the massive loading times etc.)

Also, as it was £24 on offer got Horizon, not started it yet but slapped it in to get the updates - may give it a spin tonight after work.

Still have Nier as well from my birthday which I haven't started yet.

Lots and lots of games...

Not to mention that Crash and Everybody's Golf (aka Hot Shots Golf) are also getting pretty close. And that Uncharted 4 expansion thing...

Completed Dragon's Trap - super good game.

Picked up Kero Blaster, pretty close to the end I think - really enjoying it. Was never a fan of Cave Story so wasn't sure what to expect but it's an absolute joy of a Run n Gun game.

Have got a few more hours into Horizon. Game seems stupidly big...

dragon ball xenoverse...the first one for ps3 cuz that's all i got.
it's fun. the love is there cuz you can create a dragon ball z-style character and there are surprisingly a lot of RPG elements. gameplay is overall solid with a few quirks

i have three gripes against it:
1. finding the dragon balls should be like SUPER FUN, not extremely repetitive and tedious. i have to repeat the same quest over and over to get a SINGLE dragon ball, and what's worse is that everything is randomly generated, so there's at least a quarter chance that you will get the "key item." so having to restart over and over get's really boring and it would appear that maybe it was a last-minute thing added in. hopefully xenoverse 2 fixed it?
2. i love one-on-one battles, i don't really see much of a point to team battles tbh. maybe exceptions being against minion characters like frieza army/saibamen/cell juniors. but when it comes to fighting powerful opponents, the thing that bothers me is that the AI is broken in the way that they will gang up on you - like when i'm fighting 3-on-3, i will just go after whoever i happen to fly towards, yet their teammates will gang up on me like they can't fight my other teammates instead. it's pretty frustrating, especially when i'm trying to grind against strong opponents. (online matches are fine cuz we know how to play fair unlike the AI, lmao)
3. i can't go back and change my character's looks like whenever i want. i have to collect the dragon balls to do it instead (which sucks, refer to #1)

CaveStory+ on the Switch while I wait for ARMS to come in the mail. It should be coming today.

I've played the original CaveStory, but this is my first time laying CaveStory+. I'm also super excited that it came with an instruction booklet and a soundtrack CD. I made sure to get an 8bitdo Snes controller to play it so I could have a proper d-pad since the Joycons don't have one and the Procontroller dpad feels weird.

Mighty Gunvolt Burst ain't that bad. Dare I say, it's pretty good.

(Yeah, yeah. I know that just because it's related to Mighty No. 9 doesn't make it bad by default.)

I'm horrified people are actually willing to pay that amount of money for Cave Story. To go from free to £30 is just sickening.

£7 digital/£15 physical - maybe but the current price is just utterly shameful and one, sadly other Switch 'ports' seem to be following (aka Street Fighter HD).

The first Mighty Gunvolt game was pretty good, so I'm not surprised a more fleshed out sequel is good. Hopefully they'll be a third.

Lots o' post!

Completed Kero Blaster. Utterly brilliant game. And the 'hard mode' is vastly different. I really wish every game put this much effort in instead of the whole 'enemies take more hits you take less' laziness.

Fantastic, brilliant game. Loved everything about it and may have to go on my top 10 favourite games (which isn't the same as my top 10 games - which is reserved for the games that are more one off epics).

Friend brought PlayStation VR round, it's pretty cool.

It's really good but man, apart from like Rush of Blood (which I greatly enjoyed) there just isn't enough on it. I'd more than happy for it to just be 'rollercoaster' light gun games mind.

Conker's Bad Fur Day (US) per Project64. I wonder why they bleeped out "Fuck" and kept "Shit" in. Anyway, good to see some mature humor on the N64. Nothing else got censored, as far as I can see. You can even see a penis in one of the boss fights.

For all who never played it: It's nothing like Banjo-Kazooie or DK64 and it's considerably harder. All you have is chocolate and money, no collection spree. And don't expect too much tutorial, Conker gets the basics at the beginnings and that's it.

I'm currently in the Haunted Mansion and oh boy, it's not easy.
