This is me right here, I don't own any of the current gen consoles, sure I've played them enough to enjoy most of what they have to offer, but DS and PSP are mostly what I play games on now since I apparently own both, there just seems to be too much bullshit on homeconsoles nowadays that make me more/less decisive of what I want, and the fact that some games are so all over the place and it's really hard to follow some series cuz they have a seperate game on every fucking console, at least keep shit on something I can keep track on. I'm a little behind with shit since there's a lot more competitors this time around, but this generation it really seems hard to "settle" with something, back then when my gamecube broke, I got a ps2 sometime after and found out I was ok with just that. Now today is like "SHIT THIS IS COMING OUT ON THIS? I JUST WANT THE GAME I DONT WANNA SPEND 200$+ ON A CONSOLE JUST FOR THIS GAME!" "OH NINTENDO DOMINATED E3 TIME TO SELL AND TOSS SHIT AWAY FOR A WII". I just can't do that... RE: Djanjo's Opinion on Games and gaming of Today - DarkWolf - 07-01-2010 It's true that developers and publishers are pushing out a lot more games that don't appeal to me. But so what? When I was playing Sega Genesis the target demographic was young males ages 6-18. Now the demographic includes almost every age and both genders. So of course there's going to be an influx of games that one particular person isn't going to like. Now there are some things I dislike about the current state of things. For example, I don't believe copy protection shouldn't prevent you from playing a game under normal circumstances, and I think DLC has the potential to get out of hand. But, you know what? I don't buy games that employ that sort of thing. This is one of the reasons why FPSs nowadays are so fucking dry and unimaginative. This is why TF2 will be so much more than these FPS's. It has memorable characters and the environment cannot be mistaken with any other games. The gameplay is great too. I don't understand how people in my school brush it off saying it looks gay and too cartoony. It's better than Call of Duty by a long shot. These guys are dense motherfuckers. Also, forgot to mention the 3DS. Love it. I came dicks that came when I saw that Paper Mario for the 3DS was going back to it's Turn Based roots other than the shitty platforming gameplay. RE: Djanjo's Opinion on Games and gaming of Today - Alpha Six - 07-01-2010 It's a shame that Bad Company 2 had to go down the same general path, because in Bad Company 1, your squadmates were really interactive and full of personality! They threw most of that down the drain in BC2 though and the game was reduced to a bunch of jokes about Modern Warfare 2. The graphics in TF2 are much simpler, sure, but they've got gallons more charm than most shooter games, because they've got style. If any of you haven't seen Gameswipe, you should. The bit from Rab and Rob is spot on: games aren't really memorable any more, there aren't many games that really leave a mark. It's all Hyper Realistic Brown Land, which can be okay, but it's not going to leave cherished memories like the stuff we grew up with (I hate to be one of those BACK IN MY DAY people, but ugh. Blue skies, etc) RE: Djanjo's Opinion on Games and gaming of Today - Gwen - 07-01-2010 (07-01-2010, 04:54 PM)Alpha Six Wrote: It's a shame that Bad Company 2 had to go down the same general path, because in Bad Company 1, your squadmates were really interactive and full of personality! RE: Djanjo's Opinion on Games and gaming of Today - Omegajak - 07-26-2010 Capcom is fucking blowing my mind. Like literally my brain is getting it's cerebra raped every time I go to IGN, Gametrailers, or Event Hubs. I also got my Wii to start playing New Super Mario Bro's Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, Trauma Team, Mario Kart Wii. For some reason Monster Hunter will not yield to me. E3's happened, Evo's Happened, Comic Con San Diego happened...only thing really left is the Tokyo Game Show. Is there anything else I should be aware of in terms of revelations of games? RE: Djanjo's Opinion on Games and gaming of Today - Keychain - 07-26-2010 I hated BC2. The multiplayer is slow paced, it's like 95% transportation and 5% fighting. Medal of Honor, from what I've played in the beta, is much more fast paced like your average shooter. You don't have to walk 3 maps worth of territory to get to the fight and that's just how I like it. Explains why I like MW2 too, haters gon' hate. Also, don't compare TF2 to CoD, that's just dumb. RE: Djanjo's Opinion on Games and gaming of Today - Alpha Six - 07-26-2010 too bad it's still a generic as fuck first person shooter WHOOPS |
