Try making the contrast between shadows and... non-shadows (what is it called again?) higher. You can barely see the shading.

Posted this a while back, didn't get much feedback, but i remember someone mentioning a staircase effect, i don't know what that means. Oh and by the way its an Anti-tank in Advance Wars: Dual Strike Style for a fangame i'm working on.

It means that the eye interprets the outline as the same shape as the red line. You want it to be more like the blue line.

It has the same effect in-game so isn't that a part of the style? |
