He means that there is a lack of depth at the bottom
the bottom half of an actual NES would be curving(or at least angled) in right there as far as I remember
You've almost got that look down, but I can't tell if the reason it doesn't look right is just because the entire thing looks really flat or because that area is shaded kind of weird beat me to it Thanked by: Iceman404

i didnt use a ref

something i noticed on that ref is that the dark part goes straight down and then slants off, but your starts on a slant
Its coming along nice but i have one thing id like to call to your attention, the indent around the buttons seems darker then it needs to be.
EDIT1: I tried to mess with the spot i was talking about but i didnt manage it using the pre existing pallete, but i did mess with some porportions and decided to post my results i included lines to show where i got my porportions from EDIT2: After i posted EDIT1 i noticed the buttons and the endent around them should be pushed up a bit. Why thank you!
I've made some small adjustments myself to that edit by re-using the reference picture. Will soon add hills/mountains and stuff for the background. Also, an update to Mario's sheet. I'm gonna be making some stuff to go with these sprites since I'm bored. As you may notice, this isn't my usual color style. I'm trying out new stuff.
