That's a crazy lickitung
Genosect's right foot (from his perspective) shouldn't be pointing that way and the end of his cannon thing looks jagged and could use AA/contrast

the aa doesn't work for me, i changed the colour palette slightly too:
my anti-aliasing and selective outlining aren't perfect, but i hope it helps you.
selective outlining coupled with aa isn't just about adding to a line, it's also about subtracting and choosing the right value to render a smooth line.
i'm looking forward to more of your work!

While that looks great, my only problem is it really isn't in the style of the rest of the SSB project here. Maybe I'm wrong, but..

Nope! But you can regulate the amount of aa yourself!
I pretty much went overkill on it in my edit, because it is an example and a suggestion (and also because I suck at regulating aa), and I'm not going to do the work for you! :p

Texture and consequently volume are poorly conveyed. Rethink the lightsource and how much shadow you put down on the shape.

I was playing around with your design and I know it's not the greatest... But perhaps it could help you?

you could do with spreading a bit more noise, like white 1px and dark 1px, for now it's too even, if you see what i mean.
