many of the n64 games are hell to rip from, but this one extracts all of the models into one blob, i had to go through it and get rid of the uneeded planes (airplanes)

i have encountered a bit of a problem here
i can't find a way to fix the textures on the road
[Image: roadproblem.png]
the texture appears pure white, any suggestions
Thanked by:
Its probably colored ingame like a lot of other textures. I'd leave it as is although you can include a version with the color baked on with the original if you want.

Edit: By the way that is a submission right? If you're not done with it I'll wait to upload it.

yep its a submission, i was just curious about what you would do about the road, i'm not quite sure how exactly to fix it

Eh, I usually leave those uncolored. A good example of me doing that would be Soul Calibur IV Ivy since everything on her including here skin is colored ingame.

i don't intend to color it for the submission, i acctually want it colored for one of my own projects, i just wanted someone elses input on the coloration of digital roads

It's nice to see OoT's model section filling out. Big Grin

How about this for the path texture?

It's by no means perfect, but then, a lot of the textures appear differently when ripped when compared to game shots. The grass, for example, in game seems to use at least two layers of texture, to make repeating less obvious, and it appears much lighter in game too.

Also, from looking at screenshots, either the transparency of the path is different (More transparent), or there is another layer of grass texture above it.

As for the method, if you're interested, I tried automatic colour correction, and a few other methods, which all gave awful results, so I settled on choosing colours manually for each of the grayscale version's colours. (There was only 15 different shades in the texture, so this wasn't too complicated.) I chose the colours to change to from a screenshot of the path by the Great Deku Tree.

Uploading PNGs to photobucket tends to slightly darken them too.
Just checked, the upload has darkened it slightly. ([129-120-45], the brightest colour, is now [118-109-36]) Nothing to worry about though, as it wasn't anything perfect to begin with.)

i acctually tried sumnpthing simaler and wound up with almost the same result, i think the roads color is actually a bit lighter and is only darker in the screnn shots because of its transparancy over the ground color

so i used a slightly brighter texture and it still doesn't look great, but thats mainly because i'm using blender

thanks for all your help though, i think if all else fails that i will just remove the road, no one will miss it

Just leave it in, its fine as it is. There's no reason to remove it and if someone really wants it to be the right color they can just do it themselves. That or just delete it if they don't want it.

i know, i don't intend to change it for the submission, i'm just that "someone really needs it to be the right color" for one of my own projects

Er... Space station silicon valley? Is that the name of a game or level or something? I just don't recognize that character or the name.
