The explorer's head is to far back, it looks like he's going to tip over backwards.

The transition between the underbelly tan-ish color, and the greenish over-body color is rather sudden, making it look rather flat. Some shading really needs to be applied to that area in order to increase depth readability since this is a side-view sprite.

I do like the head-neck portion shading, but the tail shading looks slightly pillowed.
