Bringing these back for a short period, probably until TUGS is over, so roughly 15 weeks!
I wanted to start off with something easy and fun but I also don't care so I'm doing something potentially both with a lot of open ends and possibilities.
Create a fighting game sprite of an original character
Optional Challenge: Create a portrait to go along with the character
Rules:
Must be an original character
Animations are acceptable
More than one sprite is acceptable
Any Size is acceptable, ranging from NGPC size to Guilty Gear
Challenge will end on August 3rd, 2011.

Sounds awesome! It's a shame I don't feel like I can fit both TUGS and this in my timetable. :I

I'm considering giving this a go. Can I get some clarification on how original character in defined in the context of this contest?
Is it supposed to be an original creation of yours made just for this? Or would an original one has kicking around somewhere work provided a new sprite was made for it? Does this even go far enough to include former fan chars that evolved past their fandom over the years?

Your choice. As long as it's not a character owned by someone else, I don't really care what you make.
It could even be your sonic fancharacter from like 8 years ago, for all I care.
