I dig this Game (tentative title) development thread

Thanks!

Hold down the TOOL button ([Act.A]) for a bit and it will mark where the tool will be used. Release the key to actually use it. Pushing it shortly will use the tool without viewing a marker first so it won't slow you down too much!

Fixed some bugs; bridges would fall into blocks below erasing them!

Goodnight everyone.

Made new bug, fixed it. Also improved key assignment (avoidance for duplicates).

Added a third button for picking up ladders, columns and all that (instead of pushing down or something else awkward).
Standard assignment for [Act.C] is 'D'.
If you have zero of a tool, you won't be able to select it through cycling. I think the shortcuts might still work, heh.

Hello people.

Haven't worked on the game itself since the last beta update (you realized I updated it with every last post there?) to collect my thoughts and to draw this picture. It depicts my version of Cels, if you were wondering. Click for larger on DA, other dimensions available per request.

I like it! The eyes seem.. a little lifeless though? Maybe a a small highlight on the pupils would help.

I really like the demo, by the way!

Filesize increased to over 390%......
You might want to cover your ears. Only one of the tracks was provided by Gors - judge which one!

Fixed some bug and added an options menu with fullscreen, scaling and volume.
You need to restart in order to make changes to the fullscreen option have an effect.

Teensy little update, replaced a few sound effects with ones provided by Sevenstitch.

Page two, really?

I know progress has been a bit slow. I was busy with other things. Some which you have seen, some personal and some you shall never see. Either way, here's the current state with revised credits screen (and a quick Kirby Superstar ending theme rape), toolboxes (pick them up to get some tools!) and a few quirks.

Thank you for your interest and goodnight.

This screenshot shows that all the demo puzzles in the beta can be solved, even the last one. I just tried it and died only nine times until I figured it out!
Two music tracks got replaced with new ones provided by Gors so you won't have to cover your ears as often! One is used as a new credits tune and the other plays while puzzling.
The gem sparkly animation had a tiny glitch and displayed the first frame of another color's animation at the end. It was barely noticable but I spotted it.

Link is on the picture, as always. 2.5 MiB now due to the new music.

Updated again with more better and nice music.
Also notice how the puzzle selection gems now have different colours (they had all the time, but they were all equal).

Now I want to see who can beat all the beta demo puzzles.

Cels died. I am so sorry. Cry

Gors was working hard and finished a ton of music for DIG which is now in the beta.
I hope I made the more special loops not too bad.

Great job previous and gors, seems like I missed this. Also I dislike you for making puzzle #7.

The dragon head one? Aw, I liked it Cry
Well, the puzzles in the beta are really just for demo/testing purposes. That one for hanging rock things, mostly.

Also I just noticed the music for that one didn't loop? Think I fixed it. Probably.

Other than that, development obviously is on hold at the time. Had to take a break so I could work on some rips and then there's exams. I'll get back to it later once I have more time and then I'll polish some things and think about actually neat puzzles Tongue

Current beta introduces some kind of tutorial mode thing that explains a few things and lets you do a few things to learn the basic controls?

This time I also added something that's been there even since before I ever sent any demo version to Gors. I just never told anyone about it? Well there's two files in the ZIP, frame.txt and gbframe.png. The image file name doesn't matter much as it is defined in frame.txt. That file holds information on the frame thingy. "But Previous, what does it do?" - Well, when running the game in fullscreen mode (start parameter "-f" or option set in the ingame options (restart required)), the game will check for this file, read the first four lines and then set up a nice frame around the actual game scene. Uhm, you'd better just try it and it will explain itself?? I think frame.txt also holds a quick explanation so you can make your own. I'm not sure, it's been a while!
I'd provide a screenshot but they don't seem to work in fullscreen mode aaaaaaah

Tutorial NPC person.

I think I should probably use the colour-inversed font for the text for increased legibility. Eh.

Well, there goes 3 hours of my life.

That was quite fun and quite frustrating. I didn't realize you could pick up dropped items with D.

Oh and I raged so hard I broke the laws of physics. Observe:
