Looks kinda like it's leaning forward slightly. I'd add a few more folds to the shawl as well.
I'm afraid adding more folds would make it too cluttered, especially since I'm aiming for a somewhat simple look. I could give it a try...
I may scrap this sprite altogether and work in a different style, I'm just experimenting at the moment. Can't see how she's leaning forwards, though. Her centre of gravity is almost perfectly between her feet by my reckoning... EDIT: Tried adding more folds, and even just one or two more makes it look a lot more cluttered and messy, as I thought :/

Her legs look like they're bent slightly. May I ask what she is (i.e. what her in-game role would be)?

Her legs are supposed to look like that. She's meant to have stupidly noodley legs, that bend weirdly.
In-game, she would be the main character. As for who she is, she's Demo, a personal character of the Canadian LPer Raocow.

The hair looks a bit odd, maybe have it a tiny bit taller so it doesn't look so... thin.
I look forward to seeing where this game, provided you make one goes (maybe some King Charles and the stupid horse).
I'm really thinking I might try a different style, actually. I think I've found one I prefer, so I'll give it a shot and see what happens. If I fail miserably, then I'll stick with this one.
Not certain whether King Charles will make an appearance, but I suspect there will be room for a stupid horse or two... Attempt no. 2 in a totally different style. I'll let you guys decide which style is best.

1 looked better, it has more impact than version 2. Also, version 2 has those nasty selout.
here's a reworking of the sprite c: Thanked by: Previous, recme, Hoeloe, Lexou Duck, Zadaben, Crappy Blue Luigi, Jamuk, LeleleleMAXIMUM, Thor
That's wonderful, thanks for that. I'll take a look at the techniques used, and see if I can't use some of them myself.
Okay, did it again from scratch, taking some cues from Gors' edit. I'm fairly sure it can be improved, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Thanked by: Jamuk

dont selout for the sake of selout. remember it is meant to work on a specific, controlled enviroment.
fpr a sprite of such size, it doesnt even require that amount of linework. you're better relying on shadows with a strong contrast to define the shapes. Thanked by: Jamuk

Okay, I think I get what you're saying. I'll work more into it later.

Okay, I've made another attempt. Tried to give her slightly messier hair, because I think it suits her better, also tried to use more contrast of shades to show shape, particularly in the hair.

You spin me right round...
Went ahead and worked in some different angles. My idea is that I can do pretty much any pose necessary with these 8 directions (actually only 5, since I flip over 3 of them).

The highlighs are really jumpy. Maybe making the back view highlights longer (and further up) and tweaking the transition might help?
Thanked by: Hoeloe
