Help With Ripping SFX From a PS2 Game
#1
so um... i need help with ripping the sound effects from a ps2 game called whiplash. the game uses a .rkv file that stores the game data, sfx, ect.

i found a way to extract the games audio by using this method here. http://www.thelostworlds.net/HowTo/Extra...o_PS2.html

so after i opened the .ppl file with psound, i played some of the sounds. they seem to be in the correct pitch but they all sound laggy/choppy. here are some samples. http://www.mediafire.com/?dm46p0dxjd905vm

is there any fast way i can fix the audio to where it sounds perfect? or a different method to get the sfx?

OK so I'm essentially stabbing in the dark here, but try converting the .rkv file with VGSC. I realise that you said that it contains more than just sound data, so it might not work. The extension is listed in the vgmstream compatability list though, so it's worth a shot.
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. -Mary Pickford

i finally found out why the sounds are so choppy when played in psound. the game uses an adpcm sound format and it requires the correct interleave to be able to play the sound effects properly. i used a program called "adpcm player v1.44h" to load the sounds in the ps2.rkv file. hopefully i can find the right interleave for the sound effects to make them play perfectly.
