Aha, nice! I'm glad I was of some help. That second Sprite is coming along nicely now. c:

I've been playing around in Flash with the boss, Draking, it feels really nice so far.

Another Update: This time, I'm playing with player character animations and fleshing out how the gameplay would look and feel.
As an added bonus, we see the entrance of Helper titans; how they are summoned and what role they play is TBD soon!

(NOTE: these are just mock-ups animated in flash, there is currently no playable version available or in production at the moment)

This is legitimately the best-looking Flash animation I've seen in years, if not ever. Keep up the great sprites, and always floor those x's and y's!!

The parallax scrolling image has this weird optical illusion to it that makes it look like the sand is moving slower than the houses. I know it'd probably add a ton of frames in the GIF, but I think the sand should have its own speed. It would also add more depth if you put a setting sun on the horizon behind the houses.

Ah, thanks man! I've seen so many sprite-based flash animations that simply don't feel complete and mix styles poorly, so I've decided to try my best to make convincing "game footage" as a matter of choice. I only wish there were an extension that allowed me to apply a key-able palette to symbols that I could cycle and export as part of an image sequence because I'm planning on exporting flash animations as MOV/AVI format to put into post-production software like HitFilm/Adobe Premiere and then uploading onto YouTube instead of exporting SWFs to post on Newgrounds.

But I'm glad that you enjoy it! c:

Ahaha, sorry! I'm glad that you enjoy what I've posted here so far! I've been procrastinating on schoolwork to play around with this, ESCAPE WHILE YOU STILL CAANNN

It might not actually affect the amount of frames in the gif as much, since the grass tiles would be moving faster than the houses, it'd be done in less frames than the houses. It would be fun to have a sun setting on the horizon with a transition to the moon rising, but I think that I'd definitely have to break NES restrictions for it to be a smooth change (Though I've already broken them with the colors I've used, so that's not a problem)

Aha, I've thought about adding a referee, but he might only be included in-between rounds or at the pause menus; we'll see what happens.

Thank you all for the input and encouragement!

Here's a quick piece for the scene transitions (though I'm also kicking around an alternate design idea, too)

In the space beneath the location image you'd see your team walking from screen left to screen right.

I've been looking for good pictures to use as reference and found the Estádio do Pacaembu in São Paulo, and thought: "hey, that might be a good place for one of the Brazil matches!"
I should probably stylize it a bit more and add a bit more color (thought of adding some flags or confetti in the foreground) to give it more energy, but at least it's not Rio. aha

Locations include at least the following:

USA
-San Francisco (Golden Gate Bridge is visible)
-New York City (statue of Liberty is visible)

Brazil
-Rio de Janeiro
-São Paulo

Japan
-Tokyo
-Mt. Fuji

Australia
-Sydney

Egypt
-Pyramids arena
-Sphinx arena

Taking a short break from Fighting Titans!! for the moment to play with other sprite stuff. But don't worry, there'll be more of that up here soon.

Trying something a bit different shading-wise:

There are a few things that stand out to me already that should be fixed, but I'd like to get some second opinions before fiddling with it more.

And here's a bit of complementary concept art for this gal:

The yellow and her skin tone are very similar (even in the concept art), so I figured that I most likely won't need that color in the final palette of the sprite.

I think the first this I noticed immediately was the size of her arm and how low her hips are. I made a quick edit to show what I'm talking about. Hope this helps, the style looks great! Very emotive.

Thanks for the input, Codestar!
Here's what I have after editing her a bit; her hands are a bit wonky, but I wanted to change the pose a little bit. I also need to tweak her skirt a bit and maybe start thinking of some animation for it, too.

I'm actually dying to see the finished product (I'd assume it's for G33X, your flash animation) because I love the shit out of the artstyle you're going for here.
It's like, contemporary Western animation with like THE EVER SO SLIGHTEST Japanese influence, but it's literally not that. Like, character personalities are delivered to the reader by their facial and body composition.

It's like if Jim Davis landed a job as character designer for an animated series about highschool and magically created characters that better identify with today's design tastes. The hairstyles are weird and eccentric, but not in a way I'd typically associate with the hairstyles out of say, anime. Everything about this is so uniquely western and so fresh ;__;

Like, if this was a cartoon or comic book, I'd read the shit out of this. Like, this doesn't have the Seth McFarlane "eh" factor - this is reminiscent of like cartooning from the 80's and 90's and I absolutely love it.

Okay the bajillion praises aside, I...know you don't have a ton of real estate to work with in small pixelart, but her chin seems extremely rounded, contrary to the character concept art posted (where she has a very slight point)

(05-15-2014, 10:54 AM)Sketchasaurus Wrote: [Image: hPxn0Ac.png]

...Actually, I'm not sure how to describe it, but something about the chin looks a bit off - like it appears a too rounded compared to the character's art. When I lean in and stare at it, it looks fine? But when I lean back it seems like something's not right.
Maybe it has to do with the shading on the chin? I'm sorry I know I'm splitting hairs but there's just. I SEE something but I can't describe it aaaa

Oh man, I don't even know where to begin; probably with Thank You. Everyone's interest and enthusiasm goes a long way for me in keeping my drive and hopes up.

I'm gonna break that post up into blocks to make sure I cover everything.

Aha, you're right, these are all related to G33X; while those two aren't main characters in the main G33X cartoons, they star in their own story which is currently in pre-production as we speak. While they are only minor characters, they'll appear when the moment calls for it during the main series.

In regards to art style: I'm so happy that it has a more Western feel. I've been trying to edge as far away from being misinterpreted as "anime" as possible while still pulling inspiration from Shotaro Ishinomori (Cyborg 009) Keiji Inafune (Mega Man) and Ken Sugimori (Pokémon) in addition to Western sources like (but not limited to) Hanna-Barbera, Disney, and Looney Tunes.

Also, being able to draw some characters with noses, and some without, and still have them be human is a fun design thing to be able to play around with. (random note, but it's something that I really enjoy)

Haha, the funny thing is, I tend to look at stuff from the 80s as inspiration. And while these two are only side characters, I want to make sure that everyone looks like they have their own stories to tell, regardless of relevance; in this case, we get to have a peek at what kind of things other people go through in the crazy world of G33X.

Oh thank you so much for this part! I'm not at all a fan of Seth McFarlane, and his works provide good examples of stuff I want to avoid animation and writing-wise. I actually did make a handful of G33X comics back in 2010, but they're rather "eh" and lackluster compared to the stuff that has been in the works lately; the same applies to the couple of stuff that was animated back then, too (which can still be found on the G33X YouTube Channel)

I totally know what you mean; I have the tendency to draw her chin a bit over-rounded at times, I've gone back and edited a few minor things on her sprite:
I noticed that her ear was too high up on her head and moved it down accordingly, and I also added more of a point to her chin.

Their palettes may change (or be able to change under certain conditions), but these are the default colors as of now.
