Amazing work, I especially love the style. Its almost reminiscent of Cave Story in a way.

Haha, didn't see the clouds, had to tilt my LCD monitor.
This is really getting atmospheric. I'm hoping the bg stays like this; simple, no aa. I really think you have to get rid of the aa on his cape too, since there's almost no aa on the character himself. OT: So no Momotaro until Stencyl comes out?

lol yeah, I'm using a laptop laying on the floor, but when I set it up right on a table I can't see the clouds at all.
I can't aa the BG anyway since its going to have parallax (Pretty sure that's what it's called) scrolling. And yeah removing the AA, also changing the colors to be less blendy with the BG. Unfortunately, yes. Momotaro has to wait until whenever Stencyl released. Thats anytime this year, which could be good or bad I guess.

Make the main character have brighter colors, or make them more noticeable by having the background darker

I don't really think that needs to be done. The background's not overly distracting, and you only ever need to think of that if the image is going to be stationary. Since this is a game...
I mean to make the background darker to make the character stand out more, since the character is more important
Also, if the background is moving and thier isnt enough difference between the character and the background that will be a slight problem

The bg is already darker.A lot.
??? Unless you mean those white pillars, but I'm sure they're foreground elements.
Yes, the pillars are a part of the foreground. Atilus goes behind them when he runs by.

Increase the brightness still, go for something more like D but more brown

I have to agree, C is the best.
Maybe B, that's my second choice. The colors seem more of the theme your going for. (As in, the pots, right?) |
