Help with ripping from Dolphin
#1
I'm having problems ripping from Dolphin. It used to work, but now it doesn't; the screen is just black. Whenever I start it up with 3D Ripper DX, I get "failed to initialize Direct3D". Can anyone help?

I suggest using DXRipper instead. I find it to be a much better program than 3D Ripper DX, as it doesn't flatten or skew anything. And with a few games, it can even get the models in their unposed/T-pose form.

Does Dolphin boot up correctly when running that program? And I'd actually rather not have my models in t-pose, for papercrafting purposes.

Yes it does, or at least for me anyway.

What computer do you use? I have a laptop. I know, but my desktop doesn't even run Dolphin.

A desktop Windows 7, with 12GB RAM.

So a laptop Windows 7 with 2GB RAM probably won't work well at all?

I can't answer that because I don't know how much RAM Dolphin needs, sorry.

How much RAM do I need to run Dolphin?

2GB or more is recommended. RAM speed or the amount of RAM generally has no affect on emulation speed

From the official Dolphin FAQ.

Dolphin used to run on my laptop, it was really slow, but it ran. Now I can't even get it to work at all, even without the ripper on.

It'll depend on other specs than RAM, such as CPU speed and graphics card. For instance my laptop has 4GB RAM, but a mere 1.3GHz (albeit dual core) with integrated graphics makes it run Dolphin with an unplayable amount of lag.

But if it's not working at all, it might be something else (especially if it used to before). Can you describe what happens when you open it? Does it open at all, give an error message, etc?
You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down, but the staying down. -Mary Pickford

YEAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT IT TO WORK AGAIN! I FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM! I don't think my video card supports higher than Direct3D9, and the newer versions need Direct3D11 to work. So I got 3.5 again, and it worked! Now I need to get it to work with the ripper.
