Man oh man is Odin Sphere so freakin' good. It's been such a long time since I played the original I've pretty much forgot most of it.
The graphics, the music, the story and oh man that improved combat - just an utter joy to play!

managed to bring my Vita back from the dead (thanks to a new charger i bought after losing the old one) so that i could finally play it.
But it's really something. I don't think i've played a more polished game on my vita so far. c: I just hope the amount of extra content is well-worth the 40 bucks (-.-') (i'm sorry bank account)

I traded in Turtles in Manhattan for £21 (brought for £28) and had £10 on my rewards card so got Odin Sphere for a cool £10(ish).
So was a pretty decent bargain. Honestly it's been like, what, 5 years or something since I played the original so I'm not sure what would count as 'extra' content but everything has pretty much been tweaked. I mean obviously (as I keep raving about it) the combat is massively improved and now flows so much nicer. But everything from what enemies are where, what the shop sells, and well - the whole game, has been tweaked.
It basically earns the title of the 'definitive' version. Most remasters/rereleases just up the frame-rate and slap all the (normally crap) DLC in and call it the day but this is just such an ironed out experience I think playing the original would be truly jarring now. Still not a massive fan that eating as the main way to level up, but oh well...

Just got Super Mario RPG on the Virtual Console, so I've started playing through that.
I kinda wish they'd released it for the New 3DS VC, but hey, at least it's finally on Wii U for real now. Better than having to boot into Wii Mode and grabbing a Classic Controller every time I want to play the game.

nintendo must be making literal billions on account of people re-downloading Wii-U VC games that were originally on Wii's VC.

I'm going to assume most people forgot that there exists a device (100% official, to boot) that allows you to transfer data from the WII to the WII U, then.
Although to be fair, I forgot that was a thing too until seeing this post.

Odin Sphere and Monster Hunter Generations. Already been bitten by the bug and I can see many many hours being lost. At least I won't have to buy a new game for a good while.

I did that right after getting the Wii U forever ago, and Nintendo does offer a fairly nice discount if you have the Wii version of the VC game in question.
$1.50 for the ability to use the GamePad all by itself and not have to dig out a Wii Remote and a Classic Controller was worth it to me.

I'm only playing a few games nowadays:
-Final Fantasy 5 because of ~*~FIESTA~*~ season
-Advance Wars because I'm doing some hacking work on it
-Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup because it lets me be things like a tiny fairy that confuses and bewilders monsters in order to shank them or an octopus mage that can summon a giant tornado or a giant clawed troll who can transform into a statue. It's pretty good, is what I'm saying (I've played over 300 hours and those are just my games online...)

i've been playing BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma on my Vita, a fighting game that literally nobody plays anymore because they released an updated version that I can't afford right now.

Got through chapter 2 of Odin Sphere. I think it fits the criteria of an action-RPG that's well-balanced between plot and gameplay (a la a 2D Zelda game). You're given a lot of different areas and maps to explore, you can mess around with customization and game mechanics, and the plot is rather intriguing. each character is heavily-flawed in their own way, so there's more than enough drama to accompany the story, and witnessing as they overcome their obstacles is really satisfying. I really hope to see more dark-fantasy-themed games from Vanillaware, because it seems to be their strong-suit (though i believe their current project is some sort of sci-fi/post-apocalypse RPG).

Welp. It happened.
I'm starting an amiibo collection... possibly.
Also, I can finally count one moment in Splatoon where I had a streak that doesn't stop at 2 consecutive wins.
...Which was during the final Splatfest. Go figure.
