Finally got around to finishing Undertale, at least the neutral and pacifist endings. I'll take a bit of a break and then probably do genocide, and then I can finally stop avoiding spoilers
I also started playing Civ IV, which is the first time I've played a Civ game. It's pretty nice, although I played the tutorial mission for 5 hours straight and it's still not done. I'm probably going about it much slower than I'm meant to but it is quite fun to build up stuff. I think I might wait until my exams are done before I continue though, since regardless I'm sure it's still something I need to spend decent amounts of time on. For the time being I'm just playing some Hearthstone every now and again. I finally got Tyrande so I've been messing around with Priest a bit, which is interesting. Thanked by: Garamonde

Well, I was playing Paper Mario: Colour Splash and actually having fun, but then steak fight and Larry fight where I didn't have the stupid Thing card.
Then I was playing Batman: Return to Arkham: Arkham City, but then the game crashed. So now I'm not sure what I'm playing??? I booted up Arkham City again just so I could take screenshots for my review, but I shut it off as soon as I was done and don't plan on playing it any more tonight.

Been playing Xenoverse 2 a lot recently. Its SO MUCH BETTER than Xeno 1 was.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to play video games in the past couple of weeks (and also the last "long game" I completed was Earthbound, and I'm letting that experience kind of sit in my brain for a while), so I've just sat down here and there with that Mini Mario & Friends Amiibo Challenge game nobody on the planet actually played even though it was "free."
Well It's pretty fun. Maybe that's just because it's my first Mario vs. Donkey Kong game, but I'm having a great time. My only real complaint with it is that the levels which don't require a specific Amiibo (and can be played by this cute little robot called Mini Spek) still require some kind of Amiibo to play, even though that Amiibo won't actually do anything. I feel like those levels should have been free-to-play loss leaders and Mini Spek just happens to be there if you don't scan anybody in. Other than that, the game is pretty fun. Probably one of the few games where I've enjoyed doing the same stage with different characters, since each one behaves differently and they aren't just Flying Sonic (oh sorry Sonic Advance i still love you). TBH, this is the kind of game Nintendo needs to push the Amiibo line (that is, a game which actually uses the Amiibo for something and isn't just a Skylanders clone), and I wouldn't be the least bit upset if the Mario vs. Donkey Kong franchise disappeared and was replaced with a new Mini-Amiibo Challenge franchise that takes advantage of the full Amiibo range. That might just be because Mini-Ike swinging that sword around would be adorable.
I'm totally all for this but like

I can't help but to feel like Nintendo trying to wrangle all those rights a second time around would be a nightmare (and I feel like that's kind of the issue at hand, being a certain Square-Enix character's amiibo still isn't available to buy and it's pushing December) I'd play the hell out of a game like that, though - especially if they were just released as expansions to MM&F and the amiibo themselves were the only "paywall"

So... Nintendo Skylanders?

Five out of seventy different Amiibo characters? I don't think it would be a huge issue if five of them don't work for obvious reasons.

They need a great new game that really makes use of the amiibo that isn't Smash Bros.

I have the answer: Amiibo Dimensions (it's like LEGO Dimensions but with amiibo characters!!!) I want to play as Tom Nook while I run around Hyrule helping out Gorons by collecting exactly 100 coins so they can rebuild biggoron's cave.

They need a few different ones... I think if I were in their position, I would retire the Mario spin-off titles and turn them into Amiibo games. Amiibo Party, Amiibo Kart, Amiibo Tennis, etc. To save on expenses, the games could all utilize the same assets. Every now and then put out something a little different, like an "Amiibo Infinity" or the Mario vs Donkey Kong type of challenges.

it amazes me how with a successful franchise like smash bros, nintendo hasn't quite realized that crossovers sell REALLY well. most people bought a PS Vita at launch thanks to Playstation All Stars, and until it got shut down, you could ask any kid what their favorite game was and at least 7/10 they'd respond with Disney Infinity.

I don't think most people brought a Vita at all. I can't even remember if PlayStation All-Stars even sold that well. Most people I know have a PS3 and I don't think any of us owned it. (I think I brought it for cheap on a sale and played it for like an hour...)
But yeah Nintendo needs to get the Kart and Party games being more than just Mario.

Hey, now I'm playing the new Ace Attorney game. Title relevance!
And uh yeah wow this game's pretty goddamn dark. I mean, Ace Attorney's always had a bit of an edge to it since every case is murder and whatnot but even considering that, this game feels a good deal harsher in tone than previous entries. I just finished Case 3 and uh, wow. That was somethin'. I just... I hate the names they've come up with for this title's characters. I know they've always been silly puns, but these have been going kind of overboard. |
