Help with Pixel Game Maker MV
#1
Hello all, fellow sprite enjoyer here and occasional ripper (haven't ever uploaded anything here, done it just for personal use/fun, but I'll maybe up something eventually) and I'm writing to y'all regarding the game maker program in question:
So, I know how to access files and get me the sprites and whatnot from a ton of game formats... EXCEPT this effing program. I scoured all over the internet in search of answers, but I couldn't find nothing about this except topics about RPG Game Maker MV, but this is a different thing, eh. >_>
Failing that, I tried various ripping programs I have, I even tried a method that works with RPG Maker games that you can use to edit them, which is basically to make a new project with the program, put the files of the game you want to edit in it and boom, now you can, but that only gives me an error message with Pixel Game Maker. :/
What's even more infuriating is that the png files are already there for the taking, now even encrypted in any weird format or what... except they show up as corrupted files if you try to open them with anything. xd
It's some encryption thing from the program, as far as I could see, but seems like you can't decrypt them using PGM itself... so I'm like calling out here for anyone that would help figure out how to get them sweet, sweet sprites off games made with this thing, eh.
Suppose it maybe would have to do by reverse-engineering something, but I only know arts and sprites and games, I ain't not programming expert or what. :/

Hopefully maybe someone will have an answer to this problem I've been trying to figure for a lot, but in any case, thanks for reading this up and take care y'all.

Try GAME RIPPER, works with several game engines, including Pixel Game Maker MV.

Actually they are encrypted. Three variants are used, GR can handle the XOR method and the 16 bytes long key Twofish variant, but not the latest 32 bytes long variant.

GR normally saves the sheets as PNG, but it can also scan sheets and parse PGMMV jsons for animated sprites and save those as animated GIFs.
