I think Sonic Spinball 2 is more likely... (which would be awesome by the way...)

If they did a new Sonic Spinball game, would you want it to be closer to the original idea of a 2-D plane pinball/adventure game or would you want them to look at the pinball machines from Sonic Adventure as a source of inspiration?

The closer to Metroid Pinball the better. Wasn't there a Sega Pinball Collection game based off more realistic tables on the GBA or something already?

Now that you mention it, I think there was a Sonic Pinball as part of the Sonic Advance series... hmm...

Edit: Oh, here it is. Never played this one... looks like the tables are all the same 3:

They were/are different. Just, very basic...

In all honesty I'd love a new pinball game of ANYTHING. I mean, Zen pinball is great and a nice mix of 'real' pinball and video game pinball but man, could do with some new video game pinball.

Like, Metroid Pinball was bloody brilliant. Sonic is like the perfect fit for a pinball game (you know, because he spins into a ball...) so would be pretty cool. Hell if they did a table for each main title that would be awesome (I don't think the GBA games count...)

If you've never played Kirby's Pinball Land for the Game Boy I would highly recommend it. I am not generally a fan of pinball video games but that one is pretty great (and I discovered it before I was a big Kirby fan thank you very much I don't just like it because it's Kirby). Not sure how well it plays on the virtual console though, its controls might not translate well.

Kirby's Pinball Land was great at the time, but hasn't aged too well. Would love to see a modern take on it.

Believe Spinball was American made? Don't get me wrong, it isn't a great game (had fantastic music mind) but was a cool concept. It's ideas were better than it's execution. Though I don't know why anyone would think it wad a bad game.

Then again, has been some years since I played it...

I've never really been a fan of pinball, but I put a ridiculous amount of time into pokemon pinball.

I think the main issue with Sonic Spinball was how laggy and clunky the game felt. It just felt wrong moving about. It didn't have the smooth, snappy pace of a traditional Sonic game. I feel a Sonic themed pinball game should be somewhat off the wall and play much faster, with more loose and responsive physics than normal pinball. They could also include more player input and obstacles. Mix in some sort of platforming that Spinball tried, but somewhat failed at.

On the fangame side of news. Sonic Time Twisted is finally out!

This game acts as a sequel to Sonic CD, complete with the time travel gimmick. Already enjoying it so far.
An old friend from MFZ, Gardow helped with the playable character sprites.

I'd actually been waiting for Time Twisted to come out for quite some time. It was pretty great all things considered. The bosses could use some work imo, but the art, level design, control, and ost were all great.

If anyone is interested Lake Feperd the guy behind Sonic Before and After the sequel finished his Sonic inspired game Spark The Electric Jester.

You can find it on Steam here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/601810
The game is also pretty great in terms of its art and soundtrack. I think it falls a little flat with fairly simplistic, easy levels, and bosses though. The writing is also pretty bad, but I didn't really play it expecting a good story.

that's what sega soundfont music always sounded like, goemar. just hire a tiny hedgehog to fart all over a drum sample in fruityloops

sonic 4 act 1, truly the yardstick of all genesis sonic compositions
