Ya the shading just makes it look that way. Even the origianl makes it look like that.

Hey, Tork, just save your files as .png files! It saves space, and doesn't have any color loss!
And they look good, though! I think the jpeg was making it a little... tarnished looking, but if the coloring was right, it'd look good!
That second spike looks a little flat-topped, though. ![Wink Wink](https://www.vg-resource.com/images/custom_smilies/wink.png) And so does the one behind it.

The eyes are too small, and his forehead is bit... bulgy.
