Toon Link could have the Train Conductor suit from Spirit Tracks.

Personally, I'd prefer his blue and orange pajamas from Wind Waker.

And isn't Scourge an alternate universe Sonic? That would make them different characters. Not only that, but he hasn't appeared in any Sonic video games as far as I know.

The one problem I see with the pajams is that it makes it so he's taking a lot from Wind Waker and not much from his other games. The Wind Waker itself is a taunt, his stage is from Windwaker, and one victorypose is based off of Wind Waker (the pig). But he's been in 3 other games (4 if you count Spirit Tracks and 5 if you also count Four Swords Adventures as different from Four Swords). Wind Waker was his first big game and his most known, but he's still had the others.

Well, when people say Toon Link, do they mean the Link from the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks games, or just any Link in the cel-shaded style? The Four Swords Link and Ocean-Hyrule Link are two different characters, they just look the same.

As for so many things with Toon Link being from Wind Waker, I don't really know what to tell you, I would have been fine with Toon Link having some Phantom Hourglass stuff in Brawl. I don't know what the policy is going to be with how true you have to stay to the original Smash Bros. characters for this project, but considering Toon Link is the way he is, with all of his content being from Wind Waker, wouldn't it be more appropriate to have an outfit from it, too? Especially considering it might be strange to have the conductor outfit, with nothing else (taunts/attacks/etc.) being from Spirit Tracks.

*facepalm* Black Knight Sonic wouldn't work, because giving him sword moves pretty much makes him a new character, and Extreme Gear sonic is rather dull.
