I'd reccomend going for a similar line-drawing look. And ditch the oversized, staring eyes you're using. *shudder*

the eyes dont match with the bird. I think the notes should go down more two. Maybe also if he doesnt look right at you, too.

seems like the beak could be smaller to me, and the bird could be more circular, but it does look better to me

I like that one much more. Try rounding out the eyes, since everything else is rounded, and making them shorter
