Y'know
Solink had an awesome idea in the thread for the third party characters. It had a lot of thanks.
So let's just say everyone agrees with it.

So, we need 3 more third party characters?
Quote from Cave Story?
Marco from Metal Slug?
Kunio from the Kunio-kun series? (Main protagonist of the River City Ransom games, that's where I know him from, he's known as Alex in the U.S version)
Would any of those work?
SNK is a HUUUUUUGE stretch and I don't think indie games should count for representation.

I guess I kind of get the SNK thing, but I thought of Marco because the WHOLE Metal Slug series was released on the Wii with the Anthology. Then you've got Metal Slug Advance, and 7, which was released on the DS.
And Cave Story is getting a WiiWare release, so I figured Quote might be a valid character choice.
It was also released on the PS2 and PSP.

I'd personally love to play as Quote since he could use King's sword and the different guns he gets. But I don't think it would make much sense for him to be in Smash.

Yeah, and the majority of modern Sonic releases are available on multiple platforms. I didn't really stress that point as a Nintendo exclusive thing, it was more just that the whole series CAN be played on the Wii. I dunno, I feel like it counts for something.
And Bazzoka:

Would WiiWare actually count though? Even though he's coming to WiiWare, he still feels like an indie character that has nothing to do with the Wii.
EDIT:
Or Nintendo for that matter. But then again, that can be argued for a lot of other characters too... :V
WiiWare shouldn't count at ALL, it's not hard to get a WiiWare license and devkit.

At this moment, even Terry Bogard wouldn't be a far stretch...
For the record, King of Fighers, Fatal Fury. Both from SNK Playmore.

Konami: Snake/Simon
Sega: Sonic/Billy Hatcher or Vectorman or something that isn't sonic related
Capcom: Megaman/Viewtiful Joe
Square: Geno/Black Mage
Namco: KOS-MOS/Klonoa As awesome as that line-up sounds, I still think we should let 3rd parties only have one playable ref. Also why put Geno with Square? Yes they helped make SMRPG but he hasn't appeared in any non-Mario Square games. So I say keep him in the Mario-verse.
Also has Ton decided on having Rayman in? I think he'd be good enough for this game. I posted a moveset somewhere in the first few pages:
Idle Animation 01: He pushes his hair back with his right hand then turns his head and scratches it with his left hand
Idle Animation 02: He grabs his torso with his left hand and spins it
Ground Attacks
*Netural Attack: A right hand punch, then a left hand punch, then finally a quick kick with his left foot.
*Dash Attack: Rolls across and pushes his feet forward.
*Strong Side: Claps both hands forward. Can push enemies back a small distance.
*Smash Side: Jumps back on his hands and delivers a mule kick. Good knockback but the beginning leaves his vunerable.
*Strong Up: Does an uppercut with his left hand. Weak but good for juggeling.
*Smash Up: Crouches a bit and brings his hands together to prepare for a duel-handed uppercut. Good knockback.
*Strong Down: A quick left handed punch while crouching. Trips enemies.
*Smash Down: Puts his hands on the ground as if to do a handstand and his feet shoot out from both sides. Good range but decent damage.
Aerial Attacks
*Netural Aerial: Fists spin around him. Multiple weak hits.
*Side Aerial: Kicks forward with his left foot. Decent damage and good knockback
*Back Aerial: Kicks behind him with his right foot. Similar in apperance to Sonic's Back Aerial but without turning around.
*Up Aerial: Punches upward with his right hand.
*Down Aerial: Shoves both feet down. Similar in apperance to Ganondorf's Down Aerial. Great for spiking.
Grabs
*Pummel: Punches with his left hand.
*Forward Throw: Lifts the opponent above him for a second and throws him/her down on the ground. Can be chain-linked.
*Back Throw: Grabs the opponent with both hands and spins him/her behind Rayman.
*Up Throw: Throws the opponent upwards. Similar in apperance to Rayman's Up Smash
*Down Throw: Slams the opponent to the ground and Rayman stomps on him/her five times with the final time being with both feet. Similar to apperance to Kirby and Metaknight's Down Throw but slower.
Special Attacks:
*Netural Special Attack - Fist Throw: His signature move; He winds his right hand (similar in apperance to DK's Netural Special charging animation but with Rayman's left foot up) then releases it. The longer he winds, the farther his fist flies.
*Side Special Attack - Lockjaw: Flings a Lockjaw forward. If anyone is hit by one, they get electrocuted. Doubles as a tethar recovery.
*Up Special Attack - Hair Coptor: Rayman gets a sudden boost upwards and uses his hair coptor to slowly glide down.
*Down Special Attack - Shock Rocket: Shoots out a Shock Rocket.
Final Smash - Flying Shell
*Rayman summons a Flying Shell and rides it across the stage. It can spin forward in a drill fashion or shoot out a yellow orb
Taunts
*Taunt 01: The taunt in Rayman 3 which turns Black Lums into Red Lums.
*Taunt 02: The "Level Completed" animation from Rayman 1.
*Taunt 03: The "Level Completed" animation from Rayman 2: The Great Escape.
Win Animations
*Win Animation 01: His "Minigame Won" animation from Rayman Raving Rabbids 1.
*Win Animation 02: His "Minigame Lost" animation from Rayman Raving Rabbids 1.
*Win Animation 03: His "New Minigame Record" animation from Rayman Raving Rabbids 1.
Alternate Costumes:
Red body and blue hair with red and blue shoes and a blue neckchief. Matching his Heavy Metal Fist attire.
Blue body and hair with blue and green shoes and a green neckchief. Matching his Lockjaw attire.
Green body and hair with green and red shoes and a red neckchief. Matching his Vortex attire.
Orange body and hair with orange and blue shoes and a blue neckchief. Matching his Shock Rocket attire.
Yellow body and hair with yellow and purple shoes and a purple neckchief. Matching his Coptor attire.

I think it's be argued enough that Geno belongs to Square as seen in the credits of Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga. And I doubt when he's been used really matters. There could be a character that I don't know of that hasn't been used in 15 years and never made an appearance besides that one game they were in but that character would still belong to those who made him/her/it.

Ton REALLY wants Geno. Its quite obvious. However he really does belong to Square.

Saying Geno isn't a Square-Enix / third party character is as much as a Travisty as wanting Travis over Samurai Goroh.
So, subsequently, we already filled Square-Enix' spot.
