Man being trying to get into the 'new' Tomb Raider... but just doesn't seem to be happening...

On a side-note, why can't the PS4 keep my game 'suspended' even if I take the disc out to watch a DVD... that would be prettt useful...

the first? or the second?

i found the first one pretty enthralling, despite the fact you don't actually raid many tombs. it's more like uncharted but with a female protag who's trying her darnedest not to die

yeah basically.
There aren't a lot of western games there... IIRC there's an Uncharted on vita?
That's why vita is still alive in japan

(btw the entire persona series is in sale on the vita, buy them)

^^^^ same reason why the PSP did well enough in japan to last until the vita's release (in the west production seized quite a few years earlier).

So I've been practicing doing Twitch livestreams as of late, and the first victim of my incompetence has been Paper Mario: Color Splash.

And I gotta say ... so far? The game is actually surprisingly good. The writing in particular is excellent. It's witty, it's funny, and it's really on the ball; every time I want to make a joke about something someone said, I find that the game is already making that joke for me.

The visuals are also freakin' gorgeous. This game is really making me want for an HD upgrade of Thousand Year Door with Color Splash's art team working on updating the visuals because hot damn does everything get the craft-y look down to the finest details. And not just the art either, there are lots of really fun, playful things done with the visuals of the game. Like for example in one of the early levels you encounter a windy area, and if you get into a fight in this area you'll find yourself and your enemies flapping about in the breeze. Silly stuff like that.

Now, I never played Sticker Star, but I feel like a lot of its common criticisms have been smartly dealt with here. One of the major criticisms I heard about PM:SS was that due to there being no EXP system in place, fighting enemies did nothing but waste your sticker resources and it was usually best to just avoid battles. Color Splash does kind of have an EXP system in the form of Hammer Points, which fall out of defeated enemies much like coins do, but they only upgrade the size of your paint reserve, which is very useful but whether or not it's important is still a thing to be determined. But more importantly, most overworld enemies are placed smartly in locations where you actually either have to fight them, or you'll want to fight them. For example, enemies might be placed on top of drained paint spots, and you'll want to defeat them so you can color that spot in, or maybe an enemy is walking around underneath a Question Block block, and you'll want to defeat them so you can hit it. Stuff like that.

This game just feels very smart.

The only criticism that I have so far is that the battle system itself feels kind of basic and doesn't seem to have much depth to it. HOWEVER it should be noted that I am not far into the game as of yet; I have not even fought a boss yet. So maybe it gets more depth to it later on.

So yeah, based on what I've seen of the game so far, I think I would recommend it, actually. I think most people kind of ignored the game when it came out due to the unpopular opinion of Sticker Star.

Anyways if you're curious about the game at all (or just want to watch me humiliate myself), feel free to pop into my twitch channel. https://www.twitch.tv/jermungandr I've been streaming from 9pm-11pm Eastern(US). If my voice doesn't completely horrify you maybe I can at least convince you that the game isn't that bad.

Haven't posted here in a while. Started and finished Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for the first time, pretty dang good game! I plan to go through the post game solving all the troubles, getting all the shine sprites and completing the Pit of 100 Trials.

Been playing Cook, Serve, Delicious! on my phone recently. I'm usually not a big fan of these kind of management/cooking games, but this one is actually really fun. Not sure why, I'm just having a blast with it so far.

Today I also started I Am Bread and holy mother of god is it HARD. Octodad was really fun and goofy, but this game actually made me a little mad. The main problem is just that I keep messing up the controls and gripping with the wrong corners. I'm sure the game is meant to be this hard though, also I was playing this at 2 in the morning which probably doesn't help either my concentration or my temper. When I'm in a better mood I expect (i.e. hope) it'd be less infuriating. It also seems like it would be fun to play with friends, taking turns and seeing everybody else fail too Smile

20XX is an really interesting take on a "Mega Man X" roguelike game Big Grin !

This game is currently in Early Access, but it is already lots of fun for me. It has currently 8 stages, 8 bosses, lots of powerups to collect and find, glory zones with missions like kill all enemies for a upgrade and more. If you can finish more levels in a row, so harder the next levels will be. It also has the ability to be customized with "skulls", which will make the game harder, by spawning more enemies, making levels longer, making enemies and bosses faster and so on. I played it recently in my livestream with the endless skull... it was tons of fun!

The only sad thing is, you can play it online with someone else, but it's current online mode seems kinda... well... broken, I guess? I really hope, that they will fix the glitches and issues in the online mode... because this would be awesome.

And yes, I think it's already better than Mighty No.9  Smug .

hopefully people don't say that vanillaware games are for babies. put the difficulty on normal and it becomes as frustrating as a KOF boss battle on level-8.

even muramasa has some challenging boss fights on easy mode.

Man Blaster Master Zero is very very good. Remakes which aren't 'really' remakes need to become a thing. This and Ratchet and Clank are fine examples of how to bring the old to modern standards without loosing anything that made them great.

i beat breath of the wild a few days ago my self, and i'm not sure how i feel about it, it feels like a Zelda game, but at the same time it feels like a spin off, and the dungeons themselves weren't as well designed i felt as ocarina of times dungeons, even Majora's Mask's dungeons felt better built. Everything else though is pretty solid though, even though i rarely used the horses and did mostly everything by foot. And i actually enjoyed the weapons breaking, reminded me a little of the Dark Cloud games.
What Rips am i doing next not sure?

I've been putting a lot of time into Fire Emblem Heroes! It's fun for a mobile gatcha title. They keep updating and updating, and they just dropped a way to transfer skills so I'm sure I'll be getting my fill of grinding soon.

what did you expect from an "endless" runner?

it'll receive same fate as sonic runners probably.

i think miitomo and mario run were just "EP albums" for nintendo's debut in the (broken) industry of mobile games. i actually really like fire emblem heroes despite not being a fan of the actual franchise. strategy games are far easier for me on touchscreens. lol
