Tengai Makyou Zero / Far East of Eden Zero (SNES)
#76
There is another version of the game, called Tengai Makyou Zero: Shonen Jump no Shou.

Since there is no online material about it in terms of pictures, here is what the Kodansha building looks like:
It's located in Flower Circle Town (Canine Nation).
Codes from the regular version like walk thru walls and no random battle work fine.

This is the dialogue within the building:
I can't go through the doors to capture the maps / characters behind there.
Maybe the npcs provide some helpful dialogue? Unfortunately, I don't speak Japanese, so any help is appreciated.

Edit: Looks like the available npcs change at certain times:

Looks like I can only get the frozen frames for Higan & Hisui:

- Icy Gazer (Fire Bear Nation, Ice Fang Castle) only attacks Hisui and stops with freeze attacks after some turns.
- Winter Scent (Turtle Nation, Cryptic Arbor Castle) only attacks Higan. In contrast to Icy Gazer, it never stops with its freeze attacks.

Bosses don't use attacks which freeze party members and I haven't seen other monsters who can.
That said, I haven't tested all 200+ enemies in the game.

Edit:
Snow Priest (same location as Icy Gazer) also freezes the party, but only Hisui again. He also stops after a few turns.

Misses the night version of Flower Circle Town, but otherwise it should be everything.
Ice Mountain Village (below ice) never got localized signs, maybe the translators thought that nobody would pay attention anyway (or the fact that you can't enter the houses).

While I was hunting down the signs in the JPN version, I also found out that I overlooked Luck Luck Village's weapon shop (revision is on the way).

Progress, after submitting this one, it will become sheet no. 220.
And after that it's time to wrap it up for real, I'm really satisfied with all the extra sheets and updates.

All playable characters, npcs, enemies, bosses and battle backgrounds got ripped, also a lot of misc. stuff and over 160 maps.

Missing:
- all festivals
- flower circle town at night
- interior signs (translated)
- overgrown Blue Lake Village / Turtle Shrine Town
- sandy Liquor Village / Crane Shrine Town
- a single sign for Head Mt. Village
- misc.

Also have to check if everything is assigned to the sign it belongs to.

Still have to check if everything is assigned to the sign it belongs to.
Also last update before completion.

Thumbs Up
Thank you sir for your massive ripping effort!

I have been working for some time on a little tech demo of Tengai Makyō Zero for the NEC SuperGrafx. After I recently replayed the game on SFC, I discovered your tilesets and they have already helped me a lot in recreating some scenes.

@Kaminari: Thank you, hope you can make good use of these rips. It's by far not everything, I could easily spend another two months on this game and still would have stuff left to do.
Might as well post another WIP, but this time I just need to control if the Japanese and English signs fit together.
Flower Circle Town & festivals are ok, but the rest needs some checks.

Was this fan-translated? They put in a lot of work, if that's the case.

This is indeed by the translators of the game, which is really impressive.
There are only two signs with placement errors on the bottom, which are on the map for New Year's Festival and Crane-Watching Festival.

The maps I've ripped show the errors, the sheet above on the other hand has the variant which is supposed to be correct.

Phew, I'm done.

I don't think I'll ever invest that much time into a single project again.
Good stuff, though: 220 sheets from one of the best-looking SNES RPGs of all time.

Now I definitely need a rest.

Truly an amazing job! I didn't even know this game existed, so every sheet was a cool surprise for me, haha.
