What are you playing? c'mon, tell me punk!

Been a while since I've seen footage of that game, but I recall that bare dong having a "pixelated" filter on it... on the actual cart. On emulators*, you just see the thing period.

Just think. Somebody was PAID to model that. Among other things.

*Excluding Rare Replay from the equation, on account of not having available footage from that port.

It's not like the game killed a baby. It was just a fair disappointment, and this new one is kind of better.

Yeah, Mighty Gunvolt and MGBurst really show what Beck should have been from the start. As for Mighty Failure 9, it's not good. Not the worst game ever made, but pretty bad. Even on pretty good PCs, it often runs messy and most of the music and graphics are bland. I liked the game much more from the prototype screens and promised first concepts, which showed much more interesting graphics (2.5D, but smooth and detailed) and the idea to take enemies their stuff away like shields and all that was great. Too bad, they ride themselves up too much with that annoying dash thing and the 3D stuff.

I started to play my good ol Blaster Master Zero again. I just finished the game as Ekoro and now playing with Shantae (which was released for this game just yesterday). I love this game and the way its DLC changes the playstyle of it. Still despise Area 7 and its stealth stuff in the dungeons (died there a bunch of times, because of impossible to dodge situations). I love the fact that certain bosses are harder than with other characters, which means you have to change your strategy in order to beat the bosses and you can't kill him the same way you did as someone else. Some bosses really bite back a lot (especially as Shantae, since your primary weapon forces you to go close combat with your enemies) as the EX characters. I can't wait for the Shovel Knight DLC.

BMZ clearly shows how DLC should be done. Still hoping for Eve (or even Fred) being playable at some point.

One thing, I had a crazy glitch happening during my Shantae run at the Spark Salamander boss fight. As he was at the top of the room and tried to tackle me, he crashed into the wall and walked out of the room through the wall. You still could hear him, but I couldn't damage him and he never came back. I had to reset this boss once because of this. Seems not fully bug tested that guy (which is not that bad, since he is probably one of the easiest bosses of the entire game, if not the easiest).

Crash Nsane Trilogy.

I think I'm pleasantly surprised that the difficulty got a harder from the original games. Jumps are tighter, Papu fight actually takes slightly longer in the first game, and overall it feels like a welcome change to a game that was already proven difficulty.

Also Overwatch and Darksiders, on another note.

On MAME:
Burning Force
Metal Hawk
Ordyne
Phelios
Dangerous Seed
Alien vs. Predator
Cadillacs and Dinosaurs

at arcades:
Time Crisis 5
Deadstorm Pirates
Walking Dead

I love playing Japan-only games on MAME.

Alien Vs Predator is probably the pinnacle of arcade goodness.

Been super into playing Disgaea 3 for some reason lately. Everyone tells me that its the worst game in the series, but I don't know. I like it...
I think the gameplay is better than both Disgaea 1 and 2, and the characters more likable than Disgaea 4. Not sure why the game has such a bad rep.

Started to play the MegaMaker fangame... it caught me by surprise. I first though, it wouldn't be that good, but I actually really liked it, after playing it myself and watch others playing it. Sure, it's still a little buggy, but you can already do some good stuff with it.

Maybe we should make a thread about it? I've build a few levels for it and making levels with this actually feels very good (actually better than SMM most of the time). The editor is sort of a mix of SMM and Powered Up (both of which I really liked playing). The game also gets a lot of bug fixes and updates, showing, that the makers do care, which I also appreciate a lot.

Finally picked up Thumper as it was 50%, rhythm violence game is a very appropriate description. Very good game.

Can imagine it being rather terrifying in VR...

Doing the one two combo of Splatoon 2 and Kid Icarus Uprising now, both games are fun and addictive, especially Salmon Run in S2.

Posting again to say, holy crap guys, Thumper is excellent. To the point I'm playing it instead of Horizon in my spare time even though I promised myself I'd get that finished asap...

Also please picked up 2064: Read Only Memories in the PSN sale as I've heard good things about it. Because of the sheer amount of games I've got to get through, will be a while before I properly play it (did the first 5 minutes to see what it's like - seems promising).

Been in Blackpool a few days - had a 'mostly' working FunHouse pinball table (at the start of certain games the flippers would lock as the tilt mechanic was a bit broke and you'd have to wait 10 minutes...) and an original Frogger arcade cabinet (coin acceptor was jammed but guy was nice enough to open it up and slap a few credits on - obviously had to beat the high score before leaving...)

Pretty cool times.

(Does no one else play games here?)

Anyway...

On my return home I discovered that FunHouse was part of Pinball Arcade's season 1 (not going to lie, pretty much played nothing but Attack from Mars on it until this point) so been playing that, along with Scared Stiff which is an utterly fantastic table.

Also picked up Aaero (which is 'apparently' mistakenly on sale) and it's bloody fantastic. Like a mix of Star Fox and Gitaroo Man. Highly recommended.
