What are you playing? c'mon, tell me punk!
Hylics (PC)
RPG Maker VX Ace game. Nothing from the ero genre, but pure randomness. It's a little bit like Dark Souls, you just make progress and have a cryptic story running in the background. You can't even die and just go back per teleporting crystals. Well, at least it was entertaining, as short as it was.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has been taking up most of my time when I'm not doing online multiplayer in Xenoverse 2.

The gameplay's, frankly, spectacular but the story's kinda been leaving a lot to desire... until now, which is about 60 hours in and partway through Chapter 6. Even then, the actual main character himself, Rex, ain't that interesting yet. Everyone else has been getting some depth - there was actually a nice and touching moment between two characters, and a revelation that I should have seen coming but opens up a lot of neat worldbuilding - but Rex himself is The Dude of this story, just kinda gliding along with everyone else, both the centre of attention and yet not really that engaging compared to everything else around him.

But hey! Dat gameplay, dat soundtrack.

Cougar X, v.August2017fixed (PC)
Unity game demo. Well, it's a Beat 'em Up, you go from the left to the right and beat up the same enemy over and over again until you hit a sudden demo end. Not impressed, but maybe the build is too young to judge it.

What? My Neighbours are Demons!!?, v.0.0.3 (PC)
Tyrano Builder game demo. Very short, not much CG and obviously a teaser for the full version of the visual novel. All in all, disappointing.

Tales of Androgyny, v0.1.25.0 (PC)
Custom engine game demo. Not my cup of tea, it's an RPG with rogue-lite elements so you determine your stats at the beginning and walk through randomly generated location points and see what happens. The combat system was a tad too complicated because there is so much to read, you have several stances where you can do this and this not, a lot of text with status ailments when you or the enemy attack, etc.

Camp Pinewood, v.0.7 (PC)
Unity game demo. A visual novel adventure thingy and honestly, I had no idea how to make progress. You talk to the girls, get on good terms with them but it decreases if you go after other things. Sometimes, you randomly get a side quest, do it and this is it.

A Town Uncovered, v.0.14b (PC)
Ren'Py game demo. Promising VN game which reminds me of Summertime Saga. Too bad it is plagued with bugs, because very early in the game I got stuck after leaving Effie's house (after her H-Scene). No arrows, no map in the HUD, savefile is screwed. Oh well, I'll try another build in the future.

Town of Passion, v.0.5.1 (PC)
RPG Maker MV game demo. From the entire list so far, this one was the most enjoyable AND playable game demo. There is no combat, you walk around like in an adventure and do some talking, some mini games, try out items, rise stats, etc. The art is nice too, but the secondary artist needs some additional teaching in terms of anatomy (mainly the size of the arms in relation to the rest of the body in two of his scenes). But that's just a minor complaint, as it is a pretty early build.

Paladins has improved immensely, and it hasn't even been a year since i started playing it. I highly recommend this to anyone who can't play Overwatch and is looking for a shooter experience that's just as enjoyable. it's free-to-play, so you don't have to spend any cash on it unless you don't wanna grind for ingame currency.

Crimson Gray, v.1.0 (PC)
Ren'Py game. Very short, but I actually like it. A visual novel about a yandere and a depressive student with over 20 endings (although most of them vary not too much from each other). Unsurprisingly, through my chosen options I got the Happy Ending. Plus a few bad endings (I was provoking it) and with a walkthrough also the True Ending =)

Nunc Monstrum, v.0.04.12 (PC)
RPG Maker MV game demo. I would like it more if it had actual cg for the h-scenes, but I guess this is what you get for playing an early alpha. Enjoyable game, you're a hero which gets transformed into a slime girl and become friends with a citizen of a desert city. To advance the story, you have to romance a few girls but you can also take missions and defeat bandits, etc. I stopped playing due to the aforementioned missing cg (atmosphere), but as soon as the next build puts them in, I will give it another shot =)

Portals of Phereon, v.0.3.2 (PC)
Unity game demo. Played it only for a short time, I have no idea what genre this even is. Apparently, you can fight in an arena, breed monsters, go exploring and a lot of other stuff. I stopped because it has the same problem as Tales of Androgyny, simply too much information which is cluttered all over the screen.

Four Unknown Cosmic Kisses, Demo (fixed) (PC)
RPG Maker MV demo. A trash game with crappy 3D cg and an obsolete story, while the gameplay centers around getting you in lewd situations (at least you can decide if you want to engage in them). At the end of the demo, a thief steals data from your dad, he runs behind him, giant explosion happens (?) and some commander tells you to search your dad with a spaceship. Before that happens, all you do is sleeping, taking showers, visiting your boyfriend, jogging and of course getting in shenanigans while doing that. As dumb as the story is, at least it is entertaining (like if you take a break from mentally demanding tasks).

The Curse of Pleasure, v.0.4 (PC)
RPG Maker XP game demo. Turn-based RPG with nice art, and while the battle system looks pretty good, it is useless. After each fight, your HP/AP gets replenished and with Dexterity on 9 and Strength on 9, you beat every enemy in a few turns. So in order to win, you need zero strategy. If this doesn't make you feel stupid, get a load of the story and its characters. You're playing a braindead, gullible girl who deals with surroundings which are 95% perverts. Example: Dude throws his spoon on the floor, crawls under the table and looks at MC's underwear (she notices it, but doesn't say anything). Or: Talking to a random dude, he gropes your breasts, zero consequences (well, you hit him in the face, but that's it). So, many many times instead of speaking up, she decides to "endure it" because it is "embarassing" and other stupid shit, which makes it pretty bizarre as she is the strongest fighter in the village and easily beats up hellhounds, vampire bats, killer plants, etc. "The Curse of Pleasure" is not explanation enough for me, as her entire behaviour is acting like a kindergarten kid while having the personality of a pudding thrown off the cliffs.

Me last night, about to start a playthrough session of Sonic Forces Wrote:Okay, time for the moment of truth. You heard it's gotten pretty damn infamous. You heard everyone and their dog complain about this thing. Non. Effin'. Stop. Gotta hope your "Aah, it's just the usual load-a-baloney" gut feeling actually holds true once more, or we're throughly hosed. Let's do this.

*Starts the game proper*

Me after concluding said playthrough session Wrote:..........

...aaaaAAAAAND LOOK WHO F%&@!!N' CALLED IT.

Ladies and gents, my latest "statement" regarding a certain blue rodent summarized in two late night thoughts.

Yes, Forces is far from perfect, that much is certain, and I'm sure I can think of many things about it that I can critique... without going full-on Comic Book Guy mode, preferably. But at the end of the day, y'know what?

"Worst Sonic game ever" my vitriolic caboose.

I finished Cuphead a couple of weeks ago. What a fantastic game… Currently I'm playing Divinity Original Sin 2. I'm 20-30 hours in and I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface. This game feels so massive.

KOF XIII is so freakin gooooood, i wish more ppl played it than XIV tbh, but then again it's my fault for getting around to playing it years after it came out lol

balanced character roster (besides the bosses of course), gorgeous 2d sprites...there isn't much more i could ask for except for extra play modes, like survival or something :d

Lately I've been doing this thing where I don't allow myself to buy a new game unless I've played all of the other games I've bought recently (with the exception of bundles/seasonal sales), which has actually pushed me into playing a lot of the "midlist" games that I always pick up but never end up playing. My girlfriend and I picked up a bunch of titles in November and I've been slowly working through in my free time (in addition to continuing to play Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle mode often and occasionally revisiting older games for grinding and whatnot). The top of that pile was Hey Pikmin!, which I wasn't sure I would like but which turned out to be a very satisfying strategy game. A lot of people are branding it as a puzzle-platform, but I don't feel like that's exactly an appropriate classification. It's really much more of a sidescrolling strategy game than it is a platformer, and while there are puzzles the focus of the game is exploration--which is exactly what a Pikmin game should focus on! Granted, the exploration is fairly limited without a three-dimensional world to explore, but it's still fun enough. There were a lot of times I felt cheated by the game, however... it would have helped dramatically if Olimar wasn't so sluggish. Not only is his movement speed pitiful, but there's a bit of a delay on every command you send him, and then an additional delay until he commands the Pikmin. For instance, an enemy is charging at your stupid Pikmin, so you click the whistle button... but first you have to wait a second... and then Olimar shouts "HEY!" and then he whistles... and then you wait... and then the Pikmin will come running... maybe... because sometimes the little shits just don't respond. Meanwhile, the enemies are all fast and unlike Pikmin 3 you have no opportunity to save your little friends once they're scooped up or lit on fire. Weirdly, I found the most basic enemies (a dwarf breadbug, which behaves like the dwarf bulborbs from the other games) to be the most challenging of the common enemies that you encounter. You have to hit them in just the right spot--come up short but still above them and your Pikmin are instantly munched. This was a real problem when trying to get the no-death bonus in each level.

After that I moved onto Kirby: Triple Deluxe, which is in my opinion the best Kirby game short of Kirby 64. Usually with Kirby games they all kind of run together in my memories. Sure, I have a great time playing them, but I almost never can make heads or tails of the story, the characters, their motivations, or even the level designs (and that last one was still an issue at times). Worst of all: I often can't tell you which level or boss or enemy or power-up is from which game, because they're all just so samey. I don't think I'm going to have that problem with Triple Deluxe. Even though a lot of the environments and sub-bosses are pulled right out of the previous games, there was a certain amount of new life breathed into them. There's an element to the visuals that I think helps with making things more memorable, but I feel like the gameplay was simply more engaging than Kirby usually is. I wasn't just pushing right and trying to reach the end of the level, I was exploring and remembering routes and was able to actually distinguish one doorway from the next, one room from the last. I also really enjoyed all of the sub-game variety, and actually took a bit of a break from the game itself to tackle DeDeDe's Drum Dash Deluxe--which I had downloaded but never got around to playing. In my folly I thought it would be about as simple as the four Drum Dash stages in Triple Deluxe and so would make a suitable game to play five minutes at a time on days where I really shouldn't have had the time to be playing games... but that somehow soaked up close to ten hours Genki ^_^Sweatdrop Oops...

I just completed Triple Deluxe last night (aside from grinding for the rest of the keychains... the game says I'm at 98% completion and I cleared the True Arena, that's good enough for me), so now it's on to the next game in the pile: Super Lucky's Tale. I popped this in for a good couple of hours tonight not expecting too much, since almost everybody is bashing this one (even the cashier when I bought it went on a derisive rant for five minutes...), but honestly... I don't know what they're talking about! The whole time I was playing it I had a smile on my face. The characters are all cute and charming, and I love the way the little citizens in the hub world will run and play and sing songs when you idle near them. The levels are basic, but that doesn't make them unenjoyable. I dunno guys, maybe something's wrong with me, but this is honestly my favorite XBONE game right now. Hopefully the good feels keep coming.

Edit: That's weird. Why is the emoticon appearing at the end of my post instead of at the end of the second paragraph where I typed it?

Edit-Edit: Beat Super Lucky's Tale last night (so overall it only took me about 10 hours to 100% the main game). Loved every second of it. I think it's probably the number three new game that I've played for the year, behind Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey (although I never did get a chance to try out Horizon or Nier Automata...) It's so cute and charming and oddly polished for a game that isn't made by Nintendo. The more explorative players will definitely be able to go out-of-bounds and find various instances of clipping and such, but you actually have to really try and get fairly creative with your exploring to break things too much. And honestly, clipping through the walls and all that brought me back to the N64 in a very good way... finding that 101st red banana in Donkey Kong 64, for example. And there were a couple of weird things like that which I encountered, that made me baffled and curious for the rest of the game. Nothing but a positive experience, and I can't wait to check out the DLC.
