What are you playing? c'mon, tell me punk!
i dislike sonic games because i can never make it past the second zone in any game, unless i'm using savestates.

it's very frustrating for me, I don't like the 2D games' physics at all for some reason, even if they're the games everyone claims as good

Sonic 1 has it the worst with frustrating gameplay. While the presentation is revolutionary for its time, it's such a ragequit-worthy game, and so early on too. I have never beaten the second zone because there's too much for me to look out for. Spikes, lava, platforms that can squish you against the ground if you're not careful. It's too much and I can't stand even trying to play it anymore. But Sonic 2 and 3K give you a little advantage with the spindash, shields, having someone else play as Tails so they can fly you around stages (unlikely nowadays of course, but the choice is still there), etc.

I'm hoping Sonic Mania is more of a fun and casual romp with a retro atmosphere rather than a complete throwback to the original games where it requires so much dedicated time and effort to complete the game, emeralds included.

Asphalt 4: Elite Racing is a good game, but to be honest, it's not all best. Slippery physics make you crash whenever you turn around, also, why bumping into npc cars wil have you crash, i mean, what are these compact cars made of? Other than that, it's quite an enjoyable game.

Super Mario World is even difficult in 2D games, but a difficult game (for me) is an exciting game; currently playing Badland 2.

Finished up on Toy Story 2 for the PS1. One of the best movie-licensed games out there.

I played that for the N64 and it was pretty awesome. Are they basically the same game?

yooo movie licensed games: speed racer on the wii was pretty good. it was literally the f-zero i wanted and still wanted you can probably get it for hella cheap now, too
also, the GBA TMNT game (literally "TMNT", like the 2007 film) was hella great and used the Scott Pilgrim game's engine (...pretty sure Ubi Chengdu just took Montreal's work on TMNT and filled in the blanks)
i will never stop praising the GBA TMNT until i am dead

I've been playing uh

- I've been playing Overwatch a lot, solo-queuing by myself so I can get good for when I play with friends
- but moreso I've been playing Dust: An Elysian Tail. now i'll be honest i'm not into the "furry" fandom and a lot of the stuff in the game goes way over my head from a character design standpoint (why are there regular animals in a universe of anthro animals? why even add the regular animals if evolution progressed enough to allow bipedal talking rabbits when there are small regular rabbits everywhere?!) but goddamn if the game's combat mechanics aren't smooth as hell and the exploration fun as heck. The characters and voice acting are kinda...ridiculous (the comic relief usually falls flat like...everywhere. and your sidekick's "cute" naivete is obnoxious and...no, stop)

despite that, the gameplay is ULTRA solid. it's a furry metroidvania that's worth playing even if you're not a furry (i mean i'm not and i'm lovin it, hell) and the combat is neat
the only thing i wish i had was the ability to run faster. the character, when landing from a jump, has a brief animation where he runs slightly leaning before returning to his brisk walk, but holy shit i'm a fucking assassin let me run like strider hiyru, PLEASE

I've been playing a combination of the new Attack on Titan game, more Spaltoon (just hit level 20), and I've been building a living Dex in Pokemon before sun and moon comes out.

the casting for this game was held in public at an anime convention (otakon) in order to give opportunities to aspiring voice actors. while they casted a few professional/experienced actors like chris niosi and arin hanson, most of the character voices were given to amatuers. but it was all for the cause of supporting young actors eager to enter the industry, so while the quality of the voices is questionable it was a nice gesture from the people who made the game. y'know i used to go to otakon like yearly.

this means i could've been a character in this game. B)

So I finally finished a Living Dex last night, and I really can't believe it actually happened. GTS was really helpful (especially since Blissey Bases exist in ORAS and I can get Dragonites quick), although I had to shell out some bigger stuff for a couple annoying ones, like both porygon evos, which were my last two to get.

Granted, it is only a Dex that the game recognizes necessary for a Shiny Charm. I don't have a couple event ones like Meloetta, Keldeo, Genesect, Volcanion and Hoopa, and I don't have one of every possible gender or form, but I'm satisfied with the Living Dex Lite.

That being said, if anyone needs eggs of any Pokemon that can make them, feel free to hit me up.

haven't been able to play actual video games since college started. so i'm just looking for some decent shmups for my phone. found a few good ones

- ALL OF CAVE'S SHMUPS ARE GREAT YOU SHOULD PROBABLY PAY MONEY FOR ONE TO PLAY ON THE GO BECAUSE THEY DESERVE THE PATRONAGE

- Galaxy Gladiator Genesis, pretty fun if you like mechs

- Visor, REALLY challenging and plays like a Game Boy game. it's kinda weird though because if you wait long enough through the game the "screen" starts fading out and i think the app freezes...it's still a fun challenge tho!

I'm playing Paper Mario Color Splash and I'm really enjoying it so far. The only real gripes I have are:
-Roshambo Temples. Just 3 consecutive Rock Paper Scissors battles. Literally. Pick the right hand 3 times in a row to win. As a single minigame, I guess it's fine. But there are 8, and each one give you an exclusive card (not telling you which) for beating its respective Rock Paper Wizard. Beating all 8 wizards is also required to get the banner in Port Prisma (this is where I know there are fking 8). This may sound as a stupid complaint, but the ridiculous payout for beating each opponent ruins the game's economy, especially when you keep retrying for those blasted exclusive cards.
-Insta-Game Over action puzzles. Shit that actually kills me. You're basically thrown in a trail-and-error situation where it's not that hard to figure out what to do, but when you do, it may be too late.
-The Lost Sea is also annoyingly slow and the minigames at the grill are annoying as well.

The list of complaints doesn't include the battle system. I don't think it's that bad. It's certainly not amazing and a lot of elements make you broken to the point that bosses need a gimmick that require a specific Thing to counter it, just to be challenging. (Though they're pretty challenging in their own right. Not coming prepared really f's you up, even if you have the right Thing card.) But it still feels like I'm doing all the win stuff, so it's cool. I love the environments and music. The characters have a lot of personality, even for Toads. You can tell some apart by their mannerisms, even if they look identical.

I've collected 5 Paint Stars so far and unless something really messed up happens, as in it ruins the whole game, this game deserves my praise, as a later series Paper Mario game, not an early series Paper Mario game. This is not TTYD and the sooner you get over that, the sooner you may enjoy this. Or not, because we're not a bunch of characterless Toads.
